Cold winter? Not in Munich's saunas

Sauna of the Südbad München

Cold chilly days in winter? Not in Munich. The SWM (Stadtwerke München - Munich City Utilities) has many (I guess at least 18) public swimmings pools and saunas, together with steam baths, relaxing rooms and wellness offers (spa, massage, etc). Especially in winter, when it is very cold, sauna is a blessing. I start going to the sauna because of the very cold weeks here in Munich. I use to go to SWM Südbad München, which is very near to where I live, it is completely new modernised and was re-opened in December 2008, so it has everything you desire. You find everything you need to get away from your daily routine and experience holiday feeling just around the corner: state of the art sauna facilities and massage beds for your gentle relaxation; water slides and diving towers to release your energies. There are 2 saunas, a sanarium with 65°C and bio-aromas and a finnish sauna with 95°C (every hour there takes place a infusion with different aromas). The swimming pool is a bit small for a trained swimmer, but for anybody else it is ok.

The services offered at the Südbad

The biggest swimming pool is the Olympia Schwimmhale (the olympic swimming pool) where the 1972 olympics took place. There is another nice place near Munich, the Therme Erding, a thermal paradies with pools, saunas, spa - a very nice place to spent a whole day!

Don't forget your swimming suite, your goggles and flip-flops, a big sauna towel and relax!

Here you can find a sauna in Munich!
